(D) The driver of an authorized vehicle under this ordinance crossing a sidewalk, greenway or crosswalk shall yield the right of way to any pedestrian and all other traffic on the sidewalk. (E) Except for authorized service vehicles, no person shall operate any vehicle that is not authorized under this ordinance upon a sidewalk or greenway. (F) No person riding upon any authorized vehicle under this ordinance shall attach the same or himself to any vehicle upon a sidewalk or greenway. (G) Person riding an authorized vehicle under this ordinance on a sidewalk or greenway shall not ride more than two abreast except on paths or parts of paths set aside for the exclusive use of an authorized vehicle under this ordinance. (H) No person shall operate any authorized vehicle under this ordinance that is not in such mechanical condition so as to be operated safely. (I) No person operating an authorized vehicle under this ordinance shall carry any package, bundle, or article which prevents the use of one hand in the control and operation of the vehicle. A person operating an authorized vehicle under this ordinance shall keep at least one hand on the controls at all times. (J) Every authorized vehicle under this ordinance shall be equipped with a lighted lamp in front visible up to three hundred feet and taillight or rear reflector visible up to two hundred feet when used within the Town at any time from dusk to dawn. Reference to NC GS 20-129(e). (K)Every person operating or riding as a passenger of an authorized vehicle under this ordinance shall do so in accordance with the North Carolina Bicycle Helmet Law. Penalty for Violation (a) Unless otherwise specifically provided, violation of this Code or any other Town ordinance shall be a misdemeanor, as provided by G.S. 14-4. (Ord. No. 2007-030, 09.24.2007)
