Good street tree. Performs well in planters. Prefers well- drained soil. Prefers rich, well-drained soil although it is tolerant to urban conditions. Excellent tree for any medium- large space. Usually multi-stemmed handsome small tree. Performs well in planter. Stress tree conditions. Weak branch structure. Interesting flowers and foliage. Beautiful red berries and foliage in fall. Multiple stems - are quite popular. Interesting bark in winter. Easy to grow on almost any location. Susceptible to many pests. Burrs litter the area under tree. Should avoid using near patios, drives, etc. Very coarse texture - brittle wood. Excellent specimen plant - beautiful fruit. Excellent evergreen cedar; many cultivars available. Good tree for open areas - not a good “close-up” tree. Beautiful flowers in spring. Many cultivars available. Good shade tree for limited spaces. Performs best in shaded areas.
