Sec. 58-7. Exemptions to authorized emergency vehicles.

(1) The provisions of this chapter regulating the operation, parking, and standing of vehicles shall apply to authorized emergency vehicles except that the driver when operating such vehicle in an emergency, with emergency equipment activated, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, may:

(a)

Park or stand, notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter;

(b)

Proceed past a red or stop signal, or stop sign, but only after slowing down

as may be necessary for safe operation;

(c)

Exceed the speed limits as long as they do not endanger life or property;

(d)

Disregard regulations governing direction of movement or turning in

specified directions as long as they do not endanger life or property.

(e)

The foregoing exemptions shall not protect the driver of any such vehicle

from the consequences of their reckless disregard for the safety of others.

Sec. 58-8. Boarding or alighting while vehicle in motion.

No person shall board or alight from any public conveyance or other vehicle while such conveyance or vehicle is in motion. (Ord. of 8-27-79, § 4-57)

Sec. 58-9. Unlawful riding.

(1) No person shall ride on any public conveyance or vehicle, or any portion thereof, not designed or intended for the use of passengers.

(2) This section shall not apply to any employee engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty, or to persons riding within truck bodies in spaces intended for merchandise. (Ord. of 8-27-79, § 4-58)

Sec. 58-10. Riding without permission.

No person shall enter, jump on, or ride any automobile, or other vehicle, without the consent of the owner or driver. (Ord. of 8-27-79, § 4-59)

Sec. 58-11. Riders must stay inside vehicle.
