Sec. 58-66. Obedience to traffic signs and signals; deliberately avoiding traffic-control devices prohibited.

(1) No person shall drive a vehicle upon or across public or private through driveways, curb cuts, or otherwise for the purpose of proceeding from any street to an intersecting street with the intent of avoiding traffic signs or signals erected or installed for vehicular traffic control.

(a) It shall be unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in such a manner as to avoid or attempt to avoid an official traffic-control device by driving across a sidewalk, through a parking lot, or across any other private property.

(b) Violation of this subsection (1)(a) constitutes an infraction as provided by N.C.G.S. 14-4 punishable by a penalty of $25.00 per violation. (Ord. of 8-27-79, § 4-22; Ord. No. 00-13, §§ 1, 2, 3-13-00; Ord. No. 2023-6-0, 3-14-23)
