Parks, Greenways & Open Space

Key Considerations ⊲ Guide the development, maintenance, preservation, and programming of parks, greenways, and open spaces in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Compre­ hensive Master Plan and Comprehensive Transportation Plan. ⊲ Strictly preserve environmental assets within these areas, including protection of mature stands of trees, wildlife habi­ tats and corridors, water recharge areas, and other elements that contribute to the natural landscape and character of Morrisville. ⊲ Provide connections between parks, greenways, and open spaces to adjacent residential, commercial, and office uses to encourage recreation and accessibility. ⊲ Work with property owners and the devel- opment community to identify preferred areas that may be suitable for future public and private parks or greenspace.

Parks, Greenways, and Open Spaces includes outdoor green spaces, recreational areas, and environmental features and amenities. These provide recreational opportunities for residents and enhance the Town’s aesthetic appeal and overall character. Smaller parks and open spaces may be located within other appropriate designations, including private parks owned and maintained by homeowner associations.
