An additional benefit of the demand-response alternative is that the service mode can provide its own required ADA paratransit. By its design, demand response provides curb-to-curb public transportation to everyone within the service area. This includes individuals with a qualifying disability, protected under the ADA. The demand-response mode provides the added benefit of ADA service with no additional costs. This alternative is ultimately not recommended because of the higher cost, higher number of required vehicles, and limited attractiveness of the service due to the requirement to schedule trips ahead of time and extended wait times.
