Article 11: Interpretation and Definitions Section 11.5. Terms and Uses Defined 11.4.3. Illuminated Signs
A REA OF F UTURE -C ONDITIONS F LOOD H AZARD The land area that would be inundated by the 1-percent-annual-chance (100-year) flood based on future-conditions hydrology. A RT A fountain, sculpture, or similar object that is sited within a development as a focal point and is intended for the enjoyment of the general public. It can be located on both private and public property. A SSESSED V ALUE The monetary value that a parcel of land, portion of land, improvement on land, or other commodity is assigned by the Wake County Revenue Department for the purposes of taxation. A UTOMATED T ELLER M ACHINE (ATM) A mechanized device operated by or on behalf of a bank or financial institution that allows customers to conduct automated banking or financial transactions. Where an ATM is provided at the site of a bank or financial institution for use by customers in motor vehicles, the ATM is considered a drive-through service accessory use. At other locations, an ATM may be considered a separate accessory use to the principal use(s) of the location. A UTOMATIC F IRE S UPPRESSION SYSTEM An automatic fire suppression system controls and extinguishes fires without human intervention. An examples of an automatic fire suppression system is a fire sprinkler system. A UTOMOBILE R EPAIR , M AJOR General repair, rebuilding or reconditioning of engines, motor vehicles, or trailers, such as collision services, body repair and frame straightening, painting and upholstering, vehicle steam cleaning and undercoating. A UTOMOBILE R EPAIR , M INOR Minor repairs, incidental replacement of parts, and maintenance and servicing of passenger automobiles and trucks not exceeding one and one-half ton capacity. A UTOMOBILE S ALES AND R ENTAL Storage and display for sale, rental, or lease of more than two cars, trucks, motor scooters, and other similar motorized vehicles. A UTOMOBILE S ERVICE S TATION A building or other structure or a tract of land where gasoline or other similar fuel, stored only in underground tanks, is dispensed directly to users of motor vehicles. A VIGATION E ASEMENT A property right acquired from a land owner that grants the right-of-flight; the right to cause noise, dust, etc., related to aircraft flight; the right to restrict or prohibit certain lights, electromagnetic signals and bird-attracting land uses; the right to unobstructed airspace over the property above a specified height and the right of ingress/egress upon the land to exercise those rights.
