C. Screening of Commercial Containers

1. Commercial containers shall be screened on three sides by a durable, sight-obscuring wall, and enclosed on the fourth side by an opaque, secured gate. 2. If a container is one regularly accessed by pedestrians, the required screening walls shall include an opening at least three feet wide for pedestrian access. This pedestrian opening shall be screened from view by an “L”- shaped extension of a screening wall or a secured metal door. (See Figure 5.13.3.C.2: Screening of Commercial Container with Pedestrian Access.) 3. The height of the screening walls and the gate shall be at least six inches higher than the height of the container. 4. Where the container is located next to a building wall, the building wall may serve as a screening wall, and the other screening walls (including any extension from the building wall (e.g., “wing wall”) shall incorporate materials, colors, and design that are visually consistent with that of the adjacent building wall.
