W IDE -B ODY R EFRACTIVE G LOBE A translucent lamp enclosure used with some outdoor fixtures to provide a decorative look (including but not limited to acorn- and carriage light-style fixtures ). “Wide - body” refers to a wider than average size globe (greater than 15.75 inches in diameter). “Refractive” refers to the redirection (bending) of the light as it goes through the lens, rendering the light fixture more effective. Wide-body refractive globes are intended to soften and spread the light being distributed from the light source thereby reducing direct glare. W INERY An establishment primarily engaged in the manufacture of unfortified or fortified wine that is permitted to do in accordance with N.C.G.S. 18B-1100 and regulations of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. Accessory uses include a public tasting room and retail sales of wine and related products. W ING W ALL An extension of a wall which projects out beyond the building itself, and is constructed of the same material as the adjoining building. This wall shall be considered part of the primary building. W IRELESS C OMMUNICATION A NTENNA Any exterior transmitting or receiving device mounted on a tower, building, or structure and used in communications that radiates or captures electromagnetic waves, digital signals, analog signals, radio frequencies (excluding radar signals), wireless telecommunications signals, and other communications signals. W ORKFORCE H OUSING Housing that is affordable to working households that do not qualify for publicly subsidized housing, yet cannot afford appropriate market-rate housing in the community. Workforce housing is generally considered to be housing that is affordable to households earning between 60 and 150 percent of the median income for the area. X ERISCAPING A landscaping technique that utilizes water conservation practices such as the planting of drought tolerant plants, mulching, and the instillation of efficient irrigation systems. Y ARD An area within a lot that lies between the principal structure(s) on the lot and the nearest lot lines. Yards are further classified as front yards, corner side yards, side yards, and rear yards.

Y ARD , C ORNER S IDE The yard between the side facade of the principal structure(s) on a lot and the nearest corner side lot line, and extending between the front yard and rear yard of the lot. Y ARD , F RONT The yard between the front facade of the principal structure(s) on a lot and the front lot line, and extending the full width of a lot.
