V ETERINARY C LINIC /H OSPITAL A facility used for the care, diagnosis, and treatment of sick, ailing, infirm, or injured animals and preventive care for healthy animals. Accessory uses may include animal grooming services, short-term boarding that is incidental to medical care or treatment, and limited retail sales of pet-related merchandise. V IOLATION The failure of a structure or other development to be fully compliant with the provisions of this Ordinance. (See Section 10.2, Violations and Responsible Persons.). For purposes of floodplain management, a structure or other development without the elevation certificate, other certifications, or other evidence of compliance required in Divisions 4 and 5 is presumed to be in violation until that documentation is provided. V ISIBLE L IGHT T RANSMITTANCE An optical property that indicates the amount of visible light transmitted. The higher the visible transmittance, the more light is transmitted. A high visible transmittance is desirable to maximize daylight.
W ALKWAY Any pedestrian accessway that is separate from vehicular accessways and traffic.
W ALL See Fence or Wall.
W ALL P ACK A type of light fixture typically flush-mounted on a vertical wall surface.
W AREHOUSING /D ISTRIBUTION A facility primarily engaged in the storage and distribution of manufactured products, supplies, and equipment, excluding bulk storage of petroleumproducts or other materials that are flammable or explosive or that present hazards or conditions commonly recognized as offensive. W ATER S URFACE E LEVATION (WSE) The height, in relation to mean sea level, of floods of various magnitudes and frequencies in the floodplains of coastal or riverine areas. W ATERS OF THE S TATE Surface waters within or flowing through the boundaries of the state including, any intermittent or perennial stream, river, creek, brook, swamp, lake, or wetland. W ATERCOURSE A lake, river, creek, stream, wash, channel, or other topographic feature on or over which waters flow at least periodically. Watercourse includes specifically designated areas in which substantial flood damage may occur.
