Accessibility

a. Unless otherwise expressly stated in the Code, accessible electric vehicle charging spaces shall be provided in accordance with Table 5.10.3.F.3. These spaces are calculated independent of these accessible parking spaces requirement in Section 5.10.3.I b. Accessible electric vehicle charging spaces shall have all relevant parts located within accessible reach, and in a barrier-free access aisle for the user to move freely between the EVSE and the electric vehicle. Spaces shall be sized in accordance with Section 5.10.3.I but not need to be marked exclusively accessible.

Additional Requirements

a. Electric vehicle parking spaces shall be reserved for the exclusive use if electric vehicles expect as provided in Section 4.3.5.B.10.a and b. b. All EVSE-Installed parking spaces signage and pavement markings shall be installed in accordance with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards c. EV Charging station equipment shall be located so as not to interfere with vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian access and circulation, or with required landscaping. Cords, cables and connector equipment shall not extend across the path of travel in any sidewalk or greenway. d. Landscape plans shall be coordinated with the location of designed EV-Ready and EVSE-Installed parking spaces to avoid conflicts with proposed or future RV charging equipment locations. e. To the extent practical, development with multiple buildings shall locate EV-ready and EVSE-Installed parking spaces in more than one location, providing access to EV ready and EVSE-Installed parking spaces throughout the development. f. The Town does not restrict property owners from collecting a service fee for the use of an electric vehicle charging station. g. The Planning Director may waive or modify the requirement for off-street EV parking spaces in response to demonstration that the extension of electrical power supply to the effected location is physically impractical, not feasible due to non compliance with a utility company’s policy, or would be detrimental to the reliability of the utility system. Financial impracticality is not valid criterion for granting waiver.
