5.10.4. Off-Street Loading Space Requirements

A. Minimum Number of Off-Street Loading Spaces

1. New development involving the routine vehicular delivery or shipping of goods, supplies, or equipment to or from the development site shall provide a sufficient number of off-street loading spaces to accommodate the delivery and shipping operations of the development’s uses in a safe and convenient manner. 2. Table 5.10.4.A, Minimum Number of Off-Street Loading Spaces, sets forth the minimum number of loading spaces that presumptively satisfies the loading space needs of medium-sized and large sized delivery/shipping trucks based on the use classification or category of the principal use and the size of the development. It is assumed that the needs of small delivery/shipping trucks can be met through the temporary use of parking spaces or vehicle use areas, without impeding or blocking the use of adjacent driveways or fire lanes. 3. The Planning Director may require a higher or lower number of loading spaces than called for by Table 5.10.4.A on determining that the characteristics of the particular development warrant such an increase or decrease and the general standard in subsection 1 is met.
