Signs shall not extend more than 12 inches from a building wall and shall be placed flat against the wall so that any sign message reads parallel with the wall. b. In the HCV and MS districts, the sign shall be constructed of durable materials that are compatible with the design and character of the building they serve and shall be designed to reflect the scale and character of the district. (See Figure 5.16.4: Historic Crossroads Village and Main Street Signs.) c. A tenant in a multi-tenant building is allowed a second sign if the tenant is located on the corner of the building or if a tenant space faces both a parking lot and street. In no instance shall the signs be located on the same facade wall. d. A single tenant building is permitted a combined maximum of two wall-mounted fascia, projection fascia, and/or awning-mounted signs provided that not more than one of the sign type is used. A tenant in a multiple tenant building can have an additional third sign if the standards in c above are met provided that not more than two of the same sign type are used and not more than one of the same sign type is on the same façade wall. e. Except for buildings greater than 100,000 square feet, a sign shall be located on the facade wall directly adjacent to the business it serves.

f. See Section 5.16.6(D) for additional illumination standards in the HCV and MS districts. g. The use of running boards or raceways is prohibited in the HCV and MS districts.

h. .Multi-story buildings in the IM district over 50,000 square feet shall be permitted one additional wall sign for every additional 50,000 square feet provided that the total square footage of signage does not exceed 2 square feet per lineal foot of building frontage.
