Signs Exempt from Sign Permit Requirement

Signs subject to this Ordinance’s signage standards, but exempt from the requirement for a Sign Permit are listed in Section 5.16.2.C, Signs Not Requiring a Sign Permit. B. Sign Permit Procedure The following subsections identify those steps in the standard review procedure (see Section 2.4) applicable to the review of a Sign Permit application and note any specific variations of, or additions to, those review steps. The application shall be submitted and accepted, and may be withdrawn, in accordance with Section 2.4.3. 2. Staff Review and Decision The Planning Director shall review the application, allow revisions of the application, and decide the application in accordance with Section 2.4.4. The decision shall be one of the following: 1. Application Submittal and Acceptance

a. Approve the application as submitted;

b. Approve the application subject to conditions; or

c.

Deny the application.

Post-Decision Actions

The post-decision actions and limitations in Section 2.4.8 shall apply to the application except as follows: a. Effect of Approval A Sign Permit authorizes submittal of an application for an Electrical Permit for approved signage involving electrical power, and the erection, installation, construction, alteration, or moving of approved signage.

b. Expiration of Approval

A Sign Permit shall expire if the approved signage is not erected, installed, constructed, altered, or moved within six months after the date of Sign Permit Approval.

C. Sign Permit Review Standards

An application for a Sign Permit shall be approved only if the Planning Director determines that the proposed sign complies with all applicable standards in Section 5.16, Signage.

2.5.14. Building Permit

A. Building Permits are approved and issued by the Building Official in accordance with review procedures and construction standards in the State Building Code. A Building Permit is required before construction, erection, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal, or demolition of any building or structure. It certifies that plans for such activity demonstrate compliance with the construction standards in the Building Code.

B. No Building Permit shall be issued for a structure unless it is in accordance with all prior approvals.
