B REWERY /D ISTILLERY An establishment primarily engaged in the brewing or manufacturing of ale, beer, malt liquors, nonalcoholic beer, and/or fortified spirits that are permitted to do so in accordance with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. Breweries shall have a capacity of 15,000 barrels or more per year. Accessory uses include a restaurant, a public tasting room, and retails sales of ale, beer, spirits, or related products. B RICK Block made of kiln-fired material, usually clay or ground shale, laid in small, individual units with concrete mortar joints. B RIDGE A structure carrying a walkway, bikeway, roadway, or railway over a depression or obstacle such as a watercourse, ravine, roadway, or railway. Roadway bridges cannot be constructed of wood. B ROADCAST S TUDIO Commercial and public communications uses including radio and television broadcasting and receiving stations and studios, with facilities entirely within buildings. B ROADCASTING S TATION Commercial and public communication uses including radio and television broadcasting and receiving stations and studios, including ancillary outdoor communications equipment such as transmission towers and satellite dishes. B ROWNFIELD Abandoned, idled, or underused industrial and commercial facilities where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination.

B UILDING Any structure used or intended for supporting or sheltering any use or occupancy.

B UILDING C ODE The North Carolina State Building Code and any amendments thereto.

B UILDING F OOTPRINT The portion of a lot covered by a building or structure at the surface level, measured on a horizontal plane. B UILDING F RONTAGE The linear distance along the exterior building wall that faces a public right-of-way abutting the lot on which the building is located.
